  • CERS2 Launch Rescheduled to January 8; CERS2 Training Portal Available Today (Dec.20)

    by CERS Administrator | Dec 20, 2011

The production launch of the CERS2 Business and Regulator portals has been delayed to January 8 because of legacy data issues originating from the 2009 Unidocs to CERS1 data migration that were uncovered during the data migration process. Cal/EPA apologizes for the inconvenience. With the data migration involving 30,000 facilities representing about a fourth of the regulated facilities in the state, deferring the production launch will ensure a complete and accurate migration of these businesses’ data.

If you would like to gain familiarity with CERS2 right now, you can begin using the CERS2 Business and Regulator training portals being made available today at http://cers.calepa.ca.gov/. The training portals are fully functional copies of CERS2.  Existing CERS users can sign in to the training portals with their CERS1 sign in, and other users can create new accounts. Neither training portal contains any business or facility data, but users can create new businesses and facilities in the Business training portal, and regulator users (once approved by CERS Technical Support staff) can view and act upon these facilities and their submittals.

    Thank you for your patience.

  • Coming Soon to You: New CERS Web Sites for Businesses and Regulators

    by CERS Administrator | Nov 01, 2011

Several thousand businesses and several dozen regulators have been making use of the current version of CERS since it was introduced in September 2009. Since then Cal/EPA's Unified Program staff have been conducting a top-down review of CERS functionality to ensure it can meet all statewide electronic reporting requirements mandated by new legislation in 2008 ( §25404 California Health and Safety Code).

In December 2011, Cal/EPA will be implement a new version of CERS (aka "CERS2") that will replace the current version of CERS with two separate CERS web portals, one for business reporting, and one for Unified Program regulators. As part of this implementation, the old version of CERS will be unavailable from December 10th through December 20th.

Don't worry--all of the data you previously entered into CERS will be moved into the new system, and your username/password will work in the new system as well!

The CERS Business Portal will have a complete redesign of the screens that steps the facility owner/operator through the various forms they need to complete for their facility. The new screens will to allow easier data entry, and the system will provide feedback when required fields and/or forms are not completed. And the new system will allow businesses to submit ALL forms and supplemental documentation required under Unified Program regulations. And for businesses with multiple facilities, new features have been added so you can easily manage data for all of the facilities in your business.

The CERS Regulator Portal will also include a complete redesign of the user interface, providing a more focused interface on regulator tasks, and much more advisory information on the completeness of facility submittals.

Look for the new version of CERS on December 21. Stay tuned for more details at http://cers.calepa.ca.gov/ !!
