CERS EDT SCHEMAS
Cal/EPA has received very few public comments specific to the draft CERS EDT schemas (basically 3 comments identifying spelling errors). Since Cal/EPA's Technology Services Unit (TSU) has identified additional corrections and enhancements to clarify business requirements, TSU will release a third release candidate (RC3) around October 17 with comments closing in late October. TSU's intent is for RC3 to essentially comprise the final schemas unless community comments require additional change.
The final version will be officially released by mid-November.
CERS DATA REGISTRY URL BEING RELOCATED
The CERS Data Registry's URL will be changing this weekend to https://cersapps.calepa.ca.gov/DataRegistry/ . Cal/EPA will attempt to ensure its servers automatically redirect users from the old to the new location, but please make note of this change.
CERS EDT IMPLEMENTERS Q&A PHONE CONFERENCE ON OCT. 13
TSU staff will be available for a question and answer session via phone/web conference from 9am~10am on Thursday, October 13th. This session is intended ONLY for technical questions by technical professionals responsible for CERS EDT implementation (and who have already read the CERS EDT Manual). Please RSVP to Chris Allen at callen@calepa.ca.gov if you are interested in attending.
ACTIVITIES EDT IMPLEMENTERS CAN DO NOW
Listed below are several points Cal/EPA has communicated in recent phone calls with EDT Implementers.
-- If you have not done so, please read the draft EDT documentation, especially the EDT Manual.
-- A significant work item for many implementers is to map their data fields to the Unified Program Data Dictionary fields. Please use the CERS Data Registry to see the correct list of fields and data types. The
"Unified Program Data Dictionary (Version 3.10)" and "CERS System Fields" listings reflect the actual fields and their data types that will be used in CERS, which are somewhat different than the fields shown in regulation. (https://cersapps.calepa.ca.gov/DataRegistry/)
-- Another significant work item is to be able to generate a valid XML facility submittal file from your local data system. Please note that such work DOES NOT require any access to CERS or the EDT web services/endpoints. Your code development tool and/or other tools are available to validate XML files against
a specified schema. If you are unable to generate valid XML files using the draft EDT schemas, you will be unable to participate in CERS EDT.
CERS DRAFT EDT ENDPOINTS AVAILABLE IN MID-NOVEMBER
TSU intends to release draft EDT endpoints in mid-November. The draft endpoints will support authentication and basic validation of XML and/or ZIP files submitted to the endpoints. Cal/EPA will establish a limited number of test accounts for active EDT implementers. More information on gaining access to the endpoints will be available via this listserv during October.
